During his official visit to Moscow, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the enduring strength of India-Russia ties, calling them “the most consistent major relationship since World War II.” At a joint press conference alongside Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Jaishankar highlighted the stability and depth of the partnership.
Lavrov described the relationship as a “special strategic partnership,” shaped by consistent efforts and mutual respect between both nations’ leadership. The meeting was part of a broader engagement aimed at reviewing all dimensions of bilateral cooperation.

He noted that his conversation with Lavrov served as a platform to assess progress in political dialogue, defence ties, economic engagement, scientific innovation, and cultural exchange.
The minister also reflected on key recent engagements such as the 22nd Annual India-Russia Summit and high-level meetings held in Kazan. He stated these interactions have laid the roadmap for future cooperation and expressed confidence in the upcoming summit scheduled later this year.
Both sides reiterated their shared vision for a multipolar world and mutual interest in maintaining a balanced international order. Jaishankar’s remarks reaffirmed the enduring foundation and evolving nature of the India-Russia partnership, underpinned by decades of trust and collaboration.
