The Indian Embassy in Beirut has issued a travel advisory urging Indian citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Lebanon due to rising regional tensions. Indian nationals currently in Lebanon are advised to limit their movements and stay in regular contact with the Embassy through their designated email or emergency phone number.
“In light of recent regional escalations, Indian nationals should avoid non-essential travel to Lebanon,” the Embassy stated. “All Indian nationals in Lebanon are advised to exercise caution, restrict their movements, and maintain contact with the Embassy of India in Beirut via email at [email protected] or the emergency phone number +96176860128.”
This advisory follows similar warnings from other nations, including Australia, the US, and Britain. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong has urged Australian citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately, citing the risk of deteriorating security and potential disruptions at Beirut airport.
The situation in the Middle East has been increasingly tense due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza, which has caused significant casualties and a severe humanitarian crisis. The situation worsened following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, with Iran blaming Israel. In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reportedly ordered a direct strike on Israel. Military commanders are considering a coordinated attack involving drones and missiles targeting military sites near Tel Aviv and Haifa, while aiming to avoid civilian areas to prevent further escalation.
