The sudden death of Italy-based influencer Yulia Burtseva following a cosmetic surgery procedure in Russia has sparked grief among her followers and prompted an official investigation by Russian authorities.

Yulia Burtseva, 38, lived in Naples, southern Italy, with her husband Giuseppe and their young daughter. Known for sharing moments of motherhood, family life and self-care, she had built a social media following of over 70,000 people, many of whom related to her honest portrayal of everyday joys and challenges.

Procedure in Moscow turns tragic

On January 4, Burtseva travelled to Moscow for a cosmetic surgery procedure at a private clinic. Just hours before entering the clinic, she posted a cheerful video from a café on a Russian social media platform, greeting followers with a smiling “Good morning Moscow”.

According to reports by Russian media portal MSK1, Burtseva underwent medical and cosmetic procedures, after which her condition deteriorated rapidly. She was rushed to a hospital, but doctors were unable to save her. She was later pronounced dead.

The Moscow Investigative Committee confirmed that an inquiry has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. The exact medical cause has not yet been officially disclosed.

Reports suggest possible allergic reaction

Media reports in Russia have stated that Burtseva was allegedly undergoing buttock augmentation surgery. During the procedure, she is reported to have suffered an anaphylactic shock — a severe and sudden allergic reaction that can become fatal if not treated immediately.

Medical experts note that anaphylaxis is a critical emergency requiring prompt administration of adrenaline (epinephrine). Delays in treatment can have devastating consequences.

Burtseva’s final Instagram post, shared on December 5, featured a tender video with her daughter. Since news of her death emerged, followers have flooded the comments section with messages of shock, sorrow and remembrance.
