South Korean singer-actor Xiumin, a member of the popular K-pop boy band EXO, left Indian fans thrilled during his recent visit to Mumbai for the K-Town Festival. The 34-year-old surprised his followers by greeting them in Hindi, quoting a line from the iconic song “Meri aashiqui tum hi ho” from the 2013 Bollywood film Aashiqui 2. His heartfelt interaction made his first trip to India even more special for his fans.
Xiumin expressed his excitement about being in India for the first time, sharing, “I never imagined being in India. But now that I am here, I am excited to meet my fans.” When asked about the possibility of collaborating on an Indian film, he replied enthusiastically, saying, “I would be honoured to do any film collaboration in India. I think many of my Indian fans would like it.”
Reflecting on the global success of K-pop, Xiumin credited senior K-pop artists for paving the way for its worldwide recognition. He also acknowledged the role of technology and social media in boosting the genre’s popularity.
While Xiumin is best known for his music career, he has also ventured into acting, starring in dramas like Falling for Do Jeon (2015) and Boss-dol Mart (2023). When asked about his experience as an actor, he admitted, “I am a singer, so I feel very comfortable when I am in that zone. As an actor, I feel there are a lot of challenges, and I am trying my best.”
Fans in India were left even more excited by the prospect of future collaborations with the multi-talented artist.
