A viral YouTube video has sparked a major controversy involving actor Kim Soo-Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae-Ron, after claims emerged of a romantic relationship between the two. The video, posted by Kim Se-Ui’s Garosero Research Institute, alleges that they began dating in 2015, when Kim Sae-Ron was just 15, while Soo-Hyun was 27. The relationship allegedly lasted until 2022, ending after Sae-Ron’s DUI incident.
Kim Sae-Ron’s aunt accused Kim Soo-Hyun of abandoning Sae-Ron after she struggled financially to repay a $483,000 debt, which the actor’s company, Gold Medalist, had paid for her DUI damages. According to the aunt, Sae-Ron posted a photo with Soo-Hyun in 2024 in an attempt to get his attention, but received no response, leading to her tragic death on February 16—Soo-Hyun’s birthday.
Gold Medalist vehemently denied the allegations, calling the accusations false and disrespectful. They stated that they would pursue legal action against Garosero Research Institute for spreading misinformation. Despite this, the YouTube channel continued to criticize Soo-Hyun and questioned his response to Sae-Ron’s death.
Meanwhile, past comments from both actors resurfaced, intensifying the public debate. Sae-Ron had previously spoken about her admiration for Soo-Hyun in a 2017 interview, and his own controversial remarks about marriage have added fuel to the fire.
