New York: Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old wealthy former accountant and high-stakes gambler was responsible for the deadliest mass shooting in recent US history.
While Paddock was on his deadly rampage, a team of fast acting Las Vegas police officers barged into the shooter’s hotel room, 32 floors up in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, and it seems they might have prevented a thousand deaths.
Sheriff Lombardo of the Las Vegas police department, travelled to Mumbai after the attacks in November of 2008, to study and gather some insight into the attacks.
He said that before, they were trained to “form a perimeter and hope for the best”. But now, they are trained to “gather up and go get it”, he added.
The officers that burst into the shooter’s room were confronted by the sight of stacks and stacks of firearms that were placed all througout the room.
If they had not acted in the manner in which they did, at least a thousand people would have died that night at the music festival.
