Reports now suggest foul play, with suspicions of murder looming, though his body has not been located yet.

Forensic analysis of an apartment in New Town, Kolkata, where Anar was last seen, revealed blood stains, hinting at a possible crime scene. Bangladesh’s Home Minister, Asaduzzaman Khan, disclosed during a press conference in Dhaka that three individuals, believed to be Bangladeshi citizens, have been apprehended in connection with Anar’s case. Khan affirmed that Anar was “murdered” in a planned manner in a Kolkata residence.

Both Indian and Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies are collaborating to unravel the motives behind the suspected murder. Meanwhile, questions persist regarding the identities of those responsible for Anar’s disappearance and the progress of the investigation.

Anar, a Member of Parliament representing the Jhenaidah-4 constituency, has a controversial past. In 2008, Interpol issued a notice against him for various criminal offenses, including arms and explosives-related charges. However, he was cleared of these charges after becoming an MP in 2014.

Anar’s last known movements trace back to May 12 when he entered Nadia district through the Gede border and visited a friend’s residence in Baranagar. Subsequently, he vanished after allegedly consulting a doctor.

The investigation uncovered alarming details. Anar was seen leaving with two men and a woman from the New Town flat where he was last spotted. Despite their departure, Anar remained missing. The case, initially handled by local authorities, has now been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed  to locate Anar, with forensic examinations conducted at the scene. Anar’s phone activity in Bihar has extended the scope of inquiries, while the property where he vanished is owned by a Bengal government employee and rented out to a US national named Akhtaruzzaman.

The circumstances surrounding Anar’s disappearance remain murky, with authorities intensifying efforts to uncover the truth.
