A Catholic nun who spent more than five decades in quiet service to God has been remembered with deep respect after her life ended tragically in an attack outside her convent.

The nun had joined the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Mary in 1971 and devoted 55 years to religious life, living a simple life centred on prayer, work and service.

A life of humble service

Throughout her religious vocation, she carried out ordinary duties within the convent community. Her daily routine included cooking meals, caring for chickens, tending the vegetable garden and supporting the convent’s rhythm of prayer and work.

Those who lived with her described her as a woman of humility, obedience and quiet devotion, who never sought recognition for her efforts.

Even after suffering a stroke several years ago that affected her speech, she continued to assist in small tasks around the convent, offering her strength and dedication to God.

Tragic incident shocks community

The tragedy occurred on February 21, 2026, when the nun was feeding the chickens outside the convent.

According to authorities, a man entered the property and violently attacked her. Investigators later stated that the suspect had reportedly spent the night under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The incident deeply shocked the local community and the religious congregation.

Community gathers in prayer

Following the attack, local residents gathered outside the police station, expressing grief and calling for justice.

Church leaders also visited the convent to pray with the sisters who had lived and worked with her for many years.

Bishop Meron Mazur remembered her as a quiet and humble woman who never sought attention, but simply desired to serve faithfully.

A life remembered in faith

Although her life ended in violence, many believe her story reflects a deeper witness of faith.

For 55 years she chose a life of prayer, service and devotion to Christ, quietly living a vocation that often goes unnoticed by the world.

Her life remains a reminder that acts of humble service and faith are never forgotten in the eyes of God.
