In another video, police officers confronted a man, pepper-sprayed him in the face, and forcefully restrained him, including placing an arm around his neck as they brought him to the ground near the airport’s elevators, according to CNN.

These incidents have reignited a contentious public debate in Britain over the appropriate use of police force. The Assistant Chief Constable Wasim Chaudhry acknowledged the severity of the events, stating that such forceful actions during arrests are highly unusual and understandably alarming to the public.
In response to the videos, one male officer has been relieved of his duties pending further investigation. The Greater Manchester Police have also voluntarily referred their handling of the incident to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

Political figures have also weighed in on the controversy. Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, expressed his deep concern over the videos, acknowledging the widespread unease they have caused. Meanwhile, local MP Paul Waugh described the footage as appalling and conveyed his concerns directly to the police. He also indicated his intention to meet with the family of the arrested man, a resident of Rochdale.
In contrast, Reform UK Party MP Richard Tice offered a different perspective, suggesting that the use of force by the police in such circumstances was reassuring, indicating a robust response to what he characterized as a serious issue.
The Home Office Minister Diana Johnson acknowledged the public concern stirred by the footage and assured that the matter was being closely monitored.
