Pakistan’s security forces killed 67 Afghan Taliban fighters in overnight operations while repelling coordinated attacks at several locations along the southwestern border, officials said on Tuesday.
The clashes occurred as part of Operation Ghazab lil Haq, launched by Pakistan on February 26 in response to alleged cross-border raids by Afghan Taliban fighters.
Overnight clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said 40 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed during overnight operations in border areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the minister, militants attempted a physical attack at one location while carrying out firing raids at 12 separate positions.
“All the attacks were repulsed without any loss of life,” Tarar said in a statement shared on social media, adding that follow-up operations were continuing.
Fighting spreads to Balochistan border
In a separate series of incidents, Afghan Taliban fighters reportedly launched attacks across the border at 16 locations in northern Balochistan, including Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, and Chaman districts.
Pakistani troops also faced firing raids at 25 different locations during the confrontation.
According to officials, Pakistani forces successfully repelled the attacks, resulting in 27 Afghan Taliban fighters killed and several others injured.
However, the clashes also led to casualties among Pakistani forces. Authorities confirmed that one soldier from the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan North was killed, while five others were injured.
Operation Ghazab lil Haq continues
Tarar said the broader operation has inflicted heavy losses on militant groups.
On Monday, the minister claimed that Pakistani forces had already killed 435 Afghan Taliban fighters and injured another 630 since the operation began.
He also stated that 188 tanks and armoured vehicles were destroyed, 31 Afghan posts were captured, and 51 locations inside Afghanistan were targeted in air strikes.
Air strike reported in Nangarhar
State-run Pakistan Television (PTV) reported that Pakistan’s armed forces conducted an air operation in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, destroying what it described as the Khogani militant base.
The broadcaster said security sources claimed that militant groups had suffered significant setbacks during the ongoing operation.
Officials indicated that Operation Ghazab lil Haq will continue until its objectives are achieved, as tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border remain high.
