Vatican City: The final book written by Pope Francis, Hope, Unfailing, will be released in English this autumn, bringing the late Pope’s reflections on hope, humanity and peace to a wider readership.
Originally published in Italian as La Speranza non delude mai for the 2025 Jubilee Year, the English edition is scheduled for publication on November 10, 2026, by Measure Publishing LLC.
A final message centred on hope
The book presents Pope Francis’ reflections on hope and its presence in everyday human experiences, including family life, poverty, migration, conflict and the desire for a peaceful future.
Publisher Stephen Acunto said the late Pope viewed hope as something that could be discovered in people facing difficult circumstances and in those continuing to believe in a better tomorrow.
The book also explores themes including education, social and economic life, geopolitics, migration, climate concerns, human ecology and the impact of technology, including artificial intelligence.
English edition includes photographs
The English publication will feature an additional eight-page photographic insert featuring images of Pope Francis along with quotations highlighting his message of optimism.
The 176-page edition is being presented as a spiritual reflection on how hope can offer an alternative to despair and encourage people to look towards a more humane future.
For Catholics and other readers who followed Pope Francis’ emphasis on compassion, fraternity and care for those on society’s margins, the publication is expected to offer another opportunity to engage with his thoughts.
Pope Francis died on April 21, 2025, aged 88, after a 12-year papacy during which he published several major works, including four encyclicals and his first autobiography.
