A heartwarming video of a cockapoo puppy seeking comfort during a car ride has captured millions of views on social media.

Shared on Instagram by a Vancouver-based dog owner under the handle @yourbestiemoka, the clip shows the tiny pup lying gently on her owner’s shoulder while she drives. The caption reads: “When your puppy is still getting used to car rides and finds her safe spot with you. Besties for life. Cockapoo puppy love.”

Finding comfort in mum’s shoulder

The video highlights the puppy’s initial nervousness about travelling by car — a new and unfamiliar experience. Instead of sitting in the passenger seat, the small dog curls up close to her owner, visibly calmer when resting against her.

The clip has since gone viral, garnering over 13 lakh views and more than 1 lakh likes. Users flooded the comments section with affectionate reactions. One user wrote, “Best place to be in the whole world is by mom,” while another recalled their own puppy falling asleep in their lap during early car rides.

Experts advise gradual training

Animal behaviour experts note that it is common for young dogs to feel anxious during car journeys. Gradual exposure, positive reinforcement and patience can help them adjust over time.

Specialists recommend allowing puppies to explore a parked vehicle first, using treats and praise to build positive associations. Short drives can then be introduced gradually, ensuring the dog feels secure. Safety restraints are also advised to protect both pet and driver.

For this little cockapoo, however, the safest place — at least for now — seems to be her owner’s shoulder.
