In a recent interview with The Atlantic, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence in his second term, stating that it differs significantly from his first. He claimed, “The first time, I had two things to do — run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys. And the second time, I run the country and the world.” Trump appeared to relish his more powerful position, adding that his role is serious but enjoyable.

The interview, conducted by The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, touched on various aspects of Trump’s presidency, including his aggressive domestic and foreign policies. Trump also referenced his second term’s broader power base, filled with loyalists, and his increasingly confrontational approach towards the judicial system. He noted that despite his extensive efforts, including over 140 executive orders in his first 100 days, his approval rating had dipped to 39%, largely due to concerns over economic challenges and tariffs.

While rumors of a potential third-term bid swirl, Trump dismissed the notion, stating it would be difficult to pursue.

As part of his 100-day celebrations, Trump focused on immigration, promoting his tough stance with symbolic gestures like yard signs featuring mugshots of immigrant criminals. The White House also announced that 139,000 people have been deported, with plans for a large-scale deportation campaign moving forward.

Trump’s 100th day in office will be marked with a rally in Michigan and a commencement address at the University of Alabama.
