The UAE will join Saudi Arabia in celebrating the Kingdom’s 94th National Day on 23rd September, reinforcing the deep fraternal ties between the two nations.

The relationship between the UAE and Saudi Arabia serves as a unique model of cooperation, characterised by a rich history and robust collaboration across various sectors. The UAE’s participation in the celebrations highlights the special bond shared by the leadership and citizens of both countries. This partnership has laid a strong foundation for Gulf, Arab, and regional cooperation, contributing significantly to stability and prosperity in the region.

The roots of this bilateral relationship were strengthened by the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Under the leadership of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the relationship evolved into a comprehensive partnership. Today, this legacy continues under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The fruitful ties between the two nations have facilitated comprehensive and sustainable development. Over the past decade, non-oil trade between the UAE and Saudi Arabia has witnessed remarkable growth, rising approximately 69% to AED 135 billion in 2023, compared to AED 79.9 billion in 2013, as reported by the UAE Ministry of Economy.

This growth represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.4%, with non-oil trade valued at AED 1.032 trillion over the last ten years (2014-2023). The breakdown includes imports worth AED 252.46 billion, exports of AED 255.5 billion, and re-exports amounting to AED 524 billion.

Recent data from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics shows that trade volume during the first half of 2024 reached $17.53 billion, reflecting a growth rate of 22.5% compared to $14.31 billion during the same period in 2023. Notably, the UAE’s exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 10.26% to $6.80 billion, while imports rose to $10.73 billion.

Beyond economic collaboration, tourism and cultural ties significantly bolster the commercial sectors of both nations. These relationships, grounded in geographical and social connections, are evidenced through various educational initiatives. Emirati students have historically attended schools in Saudi cities like Mecca and Riyadh, while Saudi students are now welcomed in Emirati universities.

The cultural relations are enriched through joint agreements and programmes, reflecting the deep-rooted history, shared heritage, and social ties between the two nations.

As Saudi Arabia celebrates its National Day, the occasion coincides with the Kingdom’s ambitious development plans under “Saudi Vision 2030.” This transformative programme aims to pave the way for a prosperous future, marking a new chapter in the nation’s journey.

The UAE’s participation in Saudi Arabia’s celebrations underscores the enduring partnership between these two Gulf nations, built on mutual respect, shared goals, and a commitment to regional stability and prosperity.
