President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has strongly condemned Iran’s missile strikes on the United Arab Emirates, calling the attacks a serious miscalculation and urging Tehran to act rationally.

In remarks conveyed by his diplomatic advisor Anwar Gargash, the UAE leadership said, “The Iranian aggression against the Gulf states was a miscalculation, and it isolated Iran at a critical juncture. Your war is not with your neighbours.”

Gargash added that Iran must “return to reason” and deal with neighbouring countries responsibly before the cycle of isolation and escalation deepens.

Missile strikes hit Abu Dhabi, Dubai

The statement came after Iranian missiles targeted multiple areas in the UAE as part of retaliatory measures following joint US-Israeli military strikes that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

On Saturday, missiles struck near the Al Dhafra US base in southern Abu Dhabi. Several parts of the capital were shaken by explosions. Later, Dubai — a key global commercial hub — also reported major blasts.

Dubai International Airport sustained damage, leading to flight disruptions. Authorities confirmed that at least four people were injured. Airspace closures caused widespread aviation delays across the Gulf region.

Landmark sites affected

The iconic Burj Al Arab reportedly suffered damage during the overnight strikes. A fire also broke out near a hotel on Palm Jumeirah Island, according to reports.

Explosions were heard not only in the UAE but also in Doha, Qatar, and parts of Oman, marking an expansion of retaliatory strikes across Gulf states that host US military assets.

Rising regional isolation

UAE officials said the attacks have further isolated Iran from its Gulf neighbours at a time when diplomatic efforts are already strained.

The situation remains volatile, with regional governments on high alert and international leaders urging restraint to prevent a broader conflict in West Asia.
