American citizens living in India had the opportunity to cast their ballots for the US elections, with a deadline for submission set to October 4. Thanks to the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), American voters in Hyderabad were able to participate in the election process by submitting their absentee ballots through a secure drop box at the US Consulate.
The FVAP facilitates the absentee voting process for US citizens abroad, helping them request, receive, and return their ballots. To make the process easier, the US Consulate in Hyderabad hosted an information session in August, explaining how to register, fill out voting forms, and securely drop off completed ballots.
Once ballots were collected, they were sent to Washington for processing before being forwarded to the respective states for counting. Sebastian, a US citizen residing in Hyderabad, shared his experience of voting, noting the simplicity of the process and the ability to vote for his family’s home state of Wisconsin.
