The husband of a US Army soldier killed in a drone strike during the ongoing conflict with Iran has shared an emotional tribute, remembering her as a pillar of strength for both her family and fellow soldiers.
🇺🇸 Soldier killed days before returning home
Army Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, was among six US service members killed in an unmanned aerial attack on March 1 at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait, according to the Department of Defense.
She had been just days away from returning home to her family, making the loss even more devastating.
💔 Husband recalls final moments
Her husband, Joey Amor, said he grew concerned after hearing reports of an attack and tried to reach her.
“I’m getting worried,” he recalled texting her. Around 90 minutes later, he received confirmation of her death — a moment he described as deeply painful and beyond words.
The couple, who met over 20 years ago during military service, had two children together.
🕊️ A life of service and compassion
Joey described his wife as “the rock” and “the glue” for many people, both in her personal life and within the military.
Fellow soldiers also remembered her as a steady presence during moments of fear and uncertainty, someone who brought calm and support to those around her.
🌱 Keeping her memory alive
In a touching tribute, Joey and their children are building a greenhouse in her memory — a reflection of her love for gardening and nurturing life.
He said it would be a space where her presence and values would continue to grow alongside their family.
👨👩👧👦 Supporting children through grief
Joey shared that he has been honest with their children about their mother’s passing, acknowledging the difficulty of helping them cope with such a loss.
He emphasised the importance of carrying forward her love while learning to live with grief.
🕯️ Remembered with honour
Nicole’s memorial service was held in her hometown in Minnesota, where loved ones described her as someone deeply committed to caring for others.
Her legacy, they said, will continue through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
