In a tragic hit-and-run case , an elderly gentleman in Noida lost his life early Sunday morning (May 26) after being struck by a speeding car. Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, depicting the man crossing the street before being hit by a white Audi, sending him airborne.
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 6:30 am (IST) as the man was presumably on his way to purchase milk. Identified as Janak Dev Shah (63), a retired individual formerly associated with All India Radio, the incident took place near Kanchenjunga Apartment in Noida Sector 53.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter and are actively seeking the vehicle and its owner responsible for the collision.
This tragedy unfolded shortly after another recent incident in Pune involving a Porsche, where a 17-year-old was implicated in the fatal collision of two 24-year-old IT professionals riding a motorbike in Kalyani Nagar on May 19.
In the Pune case, efforts were made by the accused’s family to shift responsibility onto their driver, purportedly to shield the underage driver. Police disclosed that the family was attempting to establish that the accused was not driving at the time of the accident.
