Over 130 individuals from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have accused a Kerala-based job agency of fraud, alleging it took their passports and money under false promises of employment in Israel, leaving them jobless and without essential documents.

Rohit, a Mangaluru consultancy representative, revealed that the agency, Space International, issued fake offer letters from a non-existent Israeli company, Kohen Employment Group. Despite initially appearing legitimate, the agency is now refusing to return the passports unless a payment of ₹60,000 per passport is made or the offer letter is accepted with payment. Victims claim even those who paid haven’t secured jobs.

Preetham, a victim from Beltangady, stated, “I submitted my passport through Rohit’s office. Now, the agency is holding my passport hostage with a fake offer letter, blocking me from exploring other opportunities.”

Complaints have been lodged with Kerala Police, the Emigration Department, and Shirva police station, but victims report no resolution. The agency blames the Israel conflict for employment delays, further compounding the distress of those affected.

This scam highlights the need for stricter vetting of overseas job agencies and better enforcement against fraudulent practices.
