BELLARY: Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently imprisoned in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, received a visit from his wife, Vijayalakshmi, and family members on Friday morning. The visit provided an opportunity for the family to discuss ongoing legal matters surrounding the case.

A civil court in Bengaluru rejected the bail pleas of Darshan and co-accused Pavithra Gowda on October 14, while another accused, Deepak, was granted bail by the City Civil Court. The case involves the murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old from Chitradurga, whose body was discovered in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, on June 9.

The Sessions Court in Bengaluru, on October 8, reserved its verdict regarding Darshan’s bail petition, with proceedings focusing on the bail applications of Darshan, Gowda, and 11 other individuals implicated in the case. The court session, overseen by Judge Jaishankar, involved arguments from attorneys representing the other accused, although Darshan’s legal team did not make submissions during this session. Special government prosecutor P. Prasannakumar also presented his arguments, after which the court decided to reserve its ruling until October 9, 2024.

In related developments, the 57th Magistrate Court in Bengaluru had previously adjourned Darshan’s bail hearing to September 27, while Gowda’s hearing was postponed to September 25. Darshan had submitted his bail application on September 21.
