New Delhi: An Air India flight traveling from Chicago to Delhi had to turn back mid-journey due to technical difficulties. Reports suggest the aircraft was forced to return after multiple restrooms became inoperative.
As per data from Flightradar24.com, the Boeing 777-337 ER was in the air for over ten hours before heading back to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The aircraft, capable of carrying over 340 passengers across first, business, and economy classes, is fitted with ten restrooms, including two exclusive to first-class travelers.
Sources indicate that nearly all the toilets became unusable, leaving just one functional. “Upon arrival in Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked safely. Accommodation was arranged to reduce inconvenience,” stated an airline representative.
Air India assured passengers that alternative flight arrangements were being made. Additionally, travelers were offered full refunds for cancellations and complimentary rescheduling options.
The incident has once again raised concerns about in-flight maintenance and passenger comfort on long-haul journeys.
