Archaeological Survey of India Identifies Four Sites for Excavation at Budhdidbba
Dr. Srijeshwar, the District Archaeological Officer for Vijayanagara in Ballari, has announced that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has identified four sites for excavation at Budhdidbba, a location of considerable historical importance.
The sites earmarked for excavation include Hirearal, Goudara Mule, and Sutla. This initiative comes after Professor Namita S. Sugandhi from the United States applied for permission to conduct archaeological work in the region. The ASI’s decision to identify these sites reflects a growing interest in uncovering the historical narratives that Budhdidbba may hold.
Dr. Srijeshwar highlighted the necessity of obtaining the required permissions before commencing work. He also underscored the importance of local cooperation in safeguarding the significant remains at Budhdidbba, as well as nearby inscriptions located in Udegola and Nittur. “Measures will be taken to protect the significant remains at Budhdidbba and surrounding areas,” he stated, reinforcing the commitment to preserving this heritage site.
The excavation at Budhdidbba is expected to shed light on the historical and cultural importance of the site. Archaeologists and historians anticipate that the findings could contribute valuable insights into the region’s past, enriching the understanding of local history and heritage.
As preparations move forward, there is optimism that the excavation will reveal artifacts and structures that speak to the rich tapestry of history in this area. The collaboration between the ASI, local authorities, and scholars underscores the significance of community involvement in heritage preservation.
The identification of excavation sites at Budhdidbba marks an important step in exploring and preserving the historical treasures of Ballari. As the project unfolds, it is hoped that the findings will not only enhance local heritage but also foster greater awareness and appreciation for the region’s archaeological significance.
