Milan: Harley-Davidson has unveiled the new Sprint 440, a cruiser-style motorcycle developed in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, at EICMA 2026. The upcoming model brings together the American manufacturer’s traditional cruiser styling and a 440cc single-cylinder engine, adding a new option to the mid-capacity motorcycle segment.

The 2027 Sprint 440 is designed to appeal to new riders and motorcyclists looking for an accessible Harley-Davidson with a relaxed riding position. It features a low seat height, a compact profile and modern equipment, including a colour TFT instrument display and dual-channel ABS.

The motorcycle is expected to enter global markets in 2027, although the company has not yet announced an India-specific launch date. Its positioning places it in a segment that includes motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda Rebel 300.

Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 Gets Traditional Cruiser Styling

The Sprint 440 adopts a classic cruiser-inspired design, with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, round LED headlamp, pulled-back handlebars and a stepped seat. The motorcycle also gets a shortened rear mudguard and a low-mounted exhaust, giving it a distinctive road presence.

One of its key highlights is the 671mm seat height, which is intended to make the motorcycle more accessible to a wider range of riders. The low seat and revised ergonomics distinguish it from the Harley-Davidson X440.

The motorcycle rides on cast aluminium alloy wheels, with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. It will be offered in three colour options: Dark Billiard Grey, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder.

440cc Engine Produces 27hp and 38Nm

Powering the Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 is a 440cc, single-cylinder, air- and oil-cooled engine. It produces 27hp at 6,000rpm and 38Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm.

The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist-and-slip clutch. The transmission is designed to support relaxed riding, with the fifth and sixth gears serving as overdrive ratios for highway cruising.

Harley-Davidson claims a fuel efficiency of up to 34kmpl. The engine is shared with the X440 range, which was developed through the company’s partnership with Hero MotoCorp.

Suspension and Braking Setup

The Sprint 440 gets 43mm upside-down front forks with 130mm of travel. At the rear, it features twin shock absorbers with seven-step preload adjustment.

Braking duties are handled by a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard, providing additional braking assistance.

The motorcycle also features a revised wheel arrangement and ergonomics compared with the X440, giving it a more traditional cruiser character.

Features and Technology

Despite its retro-inspired appearance, the Sprint 440 receives several modern features. It gets a 3.5-inch colour TFT instrument display housed within a round instrument cluster.

Other equipment includes full-LED lighting and a USB Type-C charging port. The assist-and-slip clutch is also part of the standard package.

Harley-Davidson is expected to offer optional accessories such as a detachable windscreen, saddlebags, a passenger backrest, an engine guard and alternative handlebars. These additions are intended to allow owners to customise the motorcycle according to their riding requirements.

Price and India Launch Details

The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 has been listed at a starting price of £4,995 in the UK. The Vivid Black and Teal Thunder colour options carry an additional £200 premium over the base version.

The motorcycle is scheduled to reach the US market in spring 2027, with final assembly taking place at Harley-Davidson’s facility in York, Pennsylvania. Availability and launch schedules will vary across international markets.

Although the Sprint 440 has been developed with Hero MotoCorp, neither company has confirmed its India launch timeline or local pricing. Its introduction could add another option to India’s mid-capacity cruiser segment, but prospective buyers will have to wait for an official announcement.
