New Delhi: BMW India has launched the facelifted 7 Series and i7 luxury sedans in the country, with prices starting at ₹1.95 crore (ex-showroom). Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh unveiled the updated flagship models in India, with the range offering both petrol and all-electric powertrains.

The updated line-up includes the BMW 740 M Sport, BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport and the high-performance BMW i7 M70 xDrive. Prices go up to ₹2.65 crore for the range-topping electric performance model. BMW has also started local production of the i7 in India, making the country the only market outside Germany where the electric flagship is manufactured.

BMW 7 Series and i7 facelift prices

The new BMW flagship range has been introduced in three key variants:

  • BMW 740 M Sport: ₹1.95 crore
  • BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport: ₹1.95 crore
  • BMW i7 M70 xDrive: ₹2.65 crore

All prices are ex-showroom. Deliveries of the new models are scheduled to begin in October 2026.

The petrol-powered 740 M Sport is positioned as the entry point to the range, while the i7 variants cater to customers looking for an electric luxury sedan without compromising on performance or premium features.

BMW 740 M Sport gets more power

The updated BMW 740 M Sport continues with a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol straight-six engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

The facelifted model produces up to 400 hp and 540 Nm, representing an increase over the outgoing version. The petrol model is available with an automatic transmission and continues BMW’s focus on combining strong performance with luxury-oriented driving comfort.

One major change for the Indian market is the absence of a diesel-powered 7 Series in the new range. The 740 M Sport is currently the sole internal-combustion engine option offered here.

i7 offers up to 728 km range

The electric side of the line-up includes the BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport and the more powerful i7 M70 xDrive.

The i7 M70 is the performance-focused flagship and is claimed to offer a range of up to 728 km. The model combines high electric performance with the comfort and technology expected from BMW’s flagship sedan.

BMW has also introduced improvements to charging and battery technology in the updated i7 range. The electric models are aimed at buyers seeking a premium chauffeur-driven experience while also moving towards zero-emission motoring.

Major design updates

The facelift brings several visual changes to the BMW 7 Series and i7.

At the front, the sedans receive redesigned lighting elements and an updated interpretation of BMW’s signature kidney grille. The models also feature revised bumpers and updated exterior detailing.

The side profile gets new alloy wheel designs, with 20-inch wheels offered as standard on the 7 Series and larger wheel options available. At the rear, redesigned LED tail-lamps and a revised bumper give the cars a fresher appearance.

The facelift therefore retains the recognisable proportions of the current-generation 7 Series while introducing design elements from BMW’s newer models.

Luxury-focused cabin

Inside, the updated 7 Series and i7 continue to emphasise rear-seat comfort and technology.

The executive rear seats can recline and are available with features such as ventilation, massage functions and powered leg rests. Premium materials, including Merino leather and cashmere wool, are available for the cabin.

The flagship sedan also continues to offer BMW’s large rear entertainment display, designed particularly for chauffeur-driven customers who spend considerable time in the back seat.

The cabin combines large digital displays with premium upholstery and advanced connectivity, making the 7 Series and i7 among BMW’s most technology-heavy models in India.

i7 now locally produced in India

One of the biggest announcements accompanying the launch is BMW’s decision to manufacture the i7 locally.

The electric luxury sedan will be produced at BMW Group’s plant in Chennai, making India the only country outside Germany to manufacture the i7. The move underlines BMW’s growing focus on local production of electric vehicles in the Indian market.

The locally assembled i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport is priced at ₹1.95 crore, putting its starting price on par with the petrol-powered 740 M Sport.

The higher-performance i7 M70 xDrive, meanwhile, is imported as a completely built-up unit and carries a ₹2.65 crore ex-showroom price.

Ranveer Singh unveils the new flagship range

Actor Ranveer Singh unveiled the new BMW 7 Series range in India as part of the launch event.

The launch was positioned around BMW’s “Power of Choice” philosophy, highlighting the availability of petrol and electric powertrains within the same flagship model family.

With the facelift, BMW is giving Indian luxury-car buyers the option to choose between the conventional petrol-powered 7 Series and the fully electric i7, while retaining the brand’s focus on premium design, technology and rear-seat comfort.

Conclusion

The facelifted BMW 7 Series and i7 have entered India with prices starting at ₹1.95 crore. The range combines the petrol-powered 740 M Sport with two electric i7 variants, including the ₹2.65 crore i7 M70 xDrive. With local i7 production in Chennai and deliveries scheduled from October 2026, BMW is strengthening its presence in India’s growing luxury EV market.
