New Delhi: BMW India has opened pre-bookings for the limited-run BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition, a performance coupe inspired by the iconic BMW 2002 Turbo launched in 1973. The special edition will be available through authorised BMW dealerships across India, with allocations on a first-come, first-served basis.
BMW has not yet announced the car’s price in India or confirmed the number of units allocated for the country. Customers can also register their interest through the company’s website.
BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition: Exterior design
The special edition features an Alpine White exterior with hand-painted BMW Motorsport stripes inspired by the original 2002 Turbo. Other distinctive elements include a black power dome on the bonnet and the iconic reversed ‘turbo’ lettering.
The coupe also gets a dedicated ‘turbo’ emblem beneath the M2 badge, along with a carbon-fibre roof, tailgate and rear spoiler. Buyers can opt for 19-inch front and 20-inch rear M Performance forged wheels finished in Gold Bronze.
These styling details distinguish the Turbo Edition from the standard M2 while paying tribute to BMW’s performance-car heritage.
Interior gets carbon-fibre and Alcantara details
The cabin features M Carbon bucket seats designed to enhance the sporty driving experience. An M Alcantara steering wheel and carbon-fibre interior trim add to the performance-focused look.
An exclusive ‘turbo’ badge integrated into the centre cupholder cover further identifies the special edition. The interior combines modern M-series equipment with subtle references to BMW’s historic turbocharged models.
BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition: Engine and performance
The special edition is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine producing 480 hp. Power is sent to all four wheels through BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
BMW claims the coupe can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.7 seconds. Its electronically limited top speed is 250 kmph, which can increase to 285 kmph with the optional M Driver’s Package.
The performance figures position the Turbo Edition as a high-performance offering for buyers seeking an exclusive version of BMW’s compact M coupe.
Tribute to the legendary BMW 2002 Turbo
The BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition draws inspiration from the BMW 2002 Turbo, introduced in 1973. The historic model was among the earliest series-production passenger cars to use turbocharging and delivered 170 hp from its 2.0-litre engine.
Its distinctive design and performance helped establish an important chapter in BMW’s engineering history. The new edition revisits that legacy through its reversed turbo lettering, Motorsport stripes and exclusive badging.
With pre-bookings now open in India, the limited-run BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition adds another heritage-inspired model to the brand’s performance line-up. Pricing and India-specific allocation details are expected to be announced separately.
