New Delhi: Kia India has launched the Syros EV at a starting price of Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in the country. Positioned as the brand’s second most affordable EV after the Carens Clavis EV, the Syros EV will compete with rivals such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 400 and MG Windsor EV in India’s growing electric SUV segment.

The all-electric SUV largely retains the design of its internal combustion engine (ICE) sibling but introduces EV-specific styling, a premium feature list, two battery pack options and a claimed driving range of up to 526 km on a single charge.

Deliveries of the Syros EV will begin from July 30.

Price and variants

Kia has introduced the Syros EV in multiple variants catering to different budgets and range requirements.

The 42 kWh HTK variant is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 51.4 kWh Extended Range (ER) lineup starts at Rs 16.99 lakh, while the range-topping X-Line ER is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The complete variant lineup comprises:

With this extensive range, Kia aims to appeal to buyers seeking both affordability and premium features.

Familiar design with EV-specific touches

Visually, the Syros EV closely resembles its petrol-powered counterpart while incorporating subtle changes to distinguish it as an electric vehicle.

  • Ice Cube LED headlamps
  • Star Map LED lighting elements
  • Aero-optimised alloy wheels
  • Flush-fitting door handles

The SUV is available in nine exterior colours, including an exclusive Matte Graphite finish reserved for the X-Line variant.

Inside, the Syros EV offers a technology-focused cabin with several premium features.

The dashboard is dominated by Kia’s 30-inch Trinity Display, integrating the digital instrument cluster, infotainment system and climate controls into a single seamless unit.

The cabin layout remains largely similar to the ICE-powered Syros while offering EV-specific conveniences.

Two battery options with up to 526 km range

Kia is offering the Syros EV with two battery pack choices.

The 42 kWh battery delivers a claimed driving range of 443 km.

The larger 51.4 kWh battery offers a certified range of 526 km, making the Syros EV the first vehicle in its segment to cross the 500 km range milestone.

The extended-range version accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.1 seconds.

Using a 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 39 minutes, improving convenience for long-distance travel.

Safety and ownership benefits

Kia has equipped the Syros EV with an extensive list of safety features.

The SUV comes with:

  • Level 2 ADAS with 16 autonomous safety functions
  • 360-degree camera
  • Blind View Monitor
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Hill-start assist
  • Electronic parking brake with Auto Hold

  • ISOFIX child-seat anchors

To address long-term ownership concerns, Kia is also offering several customer-centric benefits.

These include a 15-year unlimited-kilometre battery warranty for the first owner, an assured buyback programme, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing options and access to more than 20,300 charging points through the company’s K-Charge network.

Kia strengthens its EV portfolio

The launch of the Syros EV further expands Kia India’s electric vehicle lineup, which now includes the Carens Clavis EV, Syros EV, EV6 and EV9.

With its competitive pricing, premium equipment, long driving range and extensive ownership benefits, the Syros EV is expected to strengthen Kia’s position in India’s rapidly growing electric passenger vehicle market.

Deliveries are scheduled to commence on July 30, with the company targeting buyers looking for a feature-rich electric SUV in the sub-Rs 20 lakh segment.
