New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.80 crore. The limited-run SUV is based on the high-performance G63 and adds dedicated off-road hardware, new terrain-focused systems and styling changes aimed at improving its capability on challenging surfaces.
The new variant retains the G63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine and 48V mild-hybrid technology. Mercedes-Benz says the model will be available in limited numbers in India, making it a specialised addition to the G-Class line-up.
Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO price and positioning
The Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO is priced at Rs 3.80 crore, ex-showroom, and is positioned above the standard AMG G63. According to automotive reports, the Offroad PRO carries a premium of around Rs 6 lakh over the standard G63.
Mercedes-Benz India has allocated limited units of the new variant for the Indian market. The company has positioned the SUV as an off-road-focused version of the performance-oriented G63 rather than as a major mechanical redesign of the existing model.
4.0-litre V8 engine produces 585 hp
The AMG G63 Offroad PRO continues with the handcrafted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. The powertrain develops 585 hp and 850 Nm of peak torque, with power delivered to all four wheels through Mercedes-AMG’s Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
The SUV also gets a 48V mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter generator. Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 240 kmph.
The engine is paired with an automatic transmission, with the all-wheel-drive system adapted to work with the Offroad PRO’s additional terrain-focused controls.
New suspension and traction technology
One of the major changes on the Offroad PRO is its AMG Active Ride Control suspension with active roll stabilisation. The system is designed to improve wheel articulation, traction and stability when the SUV is driven over uneven terrain.
The model also features AMG Active Balance Control, which allows the suspension’s roll stiffness to be adjusted across three stages according to off-road conditions.
Another important addition is AMG Traction PRO. The system works with the Rock and Sand driving modes and manages braking torque at individual wheels to help maintain traction. Drivers can select from seven levels of locking according to the terrain, according to Mercedes-AMG’s specifications.
Rugged exterior gets new equipment
The Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO receives several exterior changes to distinguish it from the regular G63.
It comes with a Professional roof luggage rack and a removable rear ladder, adding equipment suited to longer off-road journeys. The SUV also gets exclusive 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black, along with flared wheel arches and an AMG-specific front bumper.
The revised exterior retains the familiar G-Class silhouette while adding details intended to give the Offroad PRO a more rugged appearance.
Off-road information displayed inside
The cabin gets an updated off-road-focused interface that provides drivers with information relevant to terrain driving.
The system can display the vehicle’s position, compass heading, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and differential-lock status. The SUV also gets Mercedes-Benz’s Transparent Hood function, which uses camera feeds to provide a virtual view of the area immediately ahead of the vehicle.
The infotainment system is Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX NTG7, with dual 12.3-inch displays. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, augmented-reality navigation and USB-C connectivity are also available.
The cabin further features Nappa leather upholstery, configurable ambient lighting and a Burmester 3D surround sound system with 18 speakers and 760W output. Safety and driver-assistance features include Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera system.
Limited numbers for India
Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed that the AMG G63 Offroad PRO will be offered in limited numbers. The company is targeting buyers looking for the combination of G-Class design, AMG performance and additional off-road-focused equipment.
The launch expands the G-Class range in India with a variant that puts greater emphasis on terrain capability while retaining the performance credentials of the AMG G63.
Conclusion
The Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO has entered the Indian market at Rs 3.80 crore ex-showroom. With its 585-hp V8 engine, AMG Active Ride Control suspension, Traction PRO system, roof rack and dedicated off-road interface, the limited-run variant adds specialised equipment to the existing G63 package.
