India: Skoda Auto India has launched the updated Slavia sedan at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelift brings revised styling, new comfort and safety features, and a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI engine. Deliveries are scheduled to begin next week.
The 2026 Slavia facelift is the first major update to the mid-size sedan since its launch in India in 2022. It continues to compete with the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus.

The prices are ex-showroom and can vary in terms of on-road cost depending on the city, registration and insurance.
New 8-speed automatic gearbox
One of the biggest changes to the Slavia is the introduction of an eight-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox with the 1.0-litre TSI engine.
The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine continues to produce 115hp and 178Nm and is available with a six-speed manual or the new eight-speed automatic. The 1.5-litre TSI continues to produce 150hp and 250Nm and is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic.
The new eight-speed automatic replaces the outgoing 1.0 TSI’s six-speed automatic option. Skoda positions the torque-converter gearbox as a segment-first feature for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol powertrain.
The 1.5-litre engine also retains Active Cylinder Technology, which can deactivate cylinders under suitable driving conditions to improve efficiency.
Exterior gets a sharper look
The facelift retains the Slavia’s familiar overall shape but receives several styling changes.
At the front, the sedan gets redesigned LED headlamps, a revised grille and updated bumpers. The rear receives redesigned LED tail-lamps with sequential turn indicators.
The car also gets new alloy wheel designs and refreshed exterior detailing. The Monte Carlo variant features black exterior elements, red detailing and dedicated badging for a sportier appearance.
Skoda is offering the facelift with eight exterior colour options, including new Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige shades. Deliveries of the Cappuccino Beige colour are expected to begin in December 2026.
More features added inside
The cabin receives several upgrades, with the most notable addition being a rear-seat massage function. Skoda describes this as a segment-first feature.
Higher variants also receive electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats. A 360-degree camera has been added along with Park Pilot and front and rear parking sensors.
The driver gets a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster on higher variants, while the infotainment system has also been updated.
The new 10.1-inch touchscreen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system also incorporates an AI-powered voice assistant based on Google’s Automotive AI Agent and Gemini integration, allowing users to perform functions such as making calls, playing music and controlling the climate system.
Air-conditioning system upgraded
Skoda has also made changes to the Slavia’s air-conditioning system.
The facelift gets a new variable-geometry compressor aimed at improving cooling performance. This is particularly relevant for Indian driving conditions, where cabin cooling can be an important factor for customers.
The sedan continues with a single-pane sunroof rather than a panoramic unit.
Safety features continue to be a strong point
The updated Slavia retains its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for adult and child occupant protection.
Six airbags and more than 25 active and passive safety features are offered as standard across the range, while higher variants receive more than 40 safety features.
The facelift also adds the 360-degree Area View camera, which provides drivers with a broader view around the vehicle during parking and manoeuvring.
However, an ADAS package continues to be unavailable on the Slavia facelift.
Warranty and ownership package
Skoda is offering the updated Slavia with its Super Care package.
The package includes a four-year or 1,00,000-km warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four labour-free services. Customers can also extend the warranty by another two years.
The package is intended to provide customers with greater predictability in ownership costs during the initial years of use.
Slavia continues with two petrol engines
Skoda has retained the existing engine options rather than introducing a new powertrain.
The 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine produces 115hp and 178Nm. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual or the new eight-speed torque-converter automatic.
The larger 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI produces 150hp and 250Nm and continues to come exclusively with a seven-speed DSG.
The decision to retain both engines allows the Slavia to offer a balance between affordability and performance, with the 1.5-litre version aimed at buyers seeking stronger performance.
Competition in India’s sedan market
The updated Slavia continues to compete in a segment that includes the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Virtus.
The new eight-speed automatic gives the Slavia another option for buyers who prefer a conventional torque-converter automatic over a dual-clutch transmission.
The additional features, including the 360-degree camera and rear-seat massage function, also strengthen its equipment list in the premium sedan segment.
The facelift comes during a period when manufacturers are adding more technology and comfort features to mid-size sedans as they compete with compact and mid-size SUVs for customer attention.
Deliveries to begin next week
Skoda has already commenced production of the facelifted Slavia at its Chakan facility in Maharashtra. The company has now announced prices, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin next week.
The launch gives Skoda an updated product for the festive season, with the revised styling, additional equipment and new automatic gearbox forming the main changes over the outgoing model.
Conclusion
The 2026 Skoda Slavia facelift starts at Rs 9.99 lakh and brings a combination of styling changes, new technology and additional comfort features. The biggest mechanical update is the new eight-speed torque-converter automatic for the 1.0-litre TSI engine, while the 1.5-litre TSI continues with the seven-speed DSG.
With a 360-degree camera, rear-seat massage function, larger digital displays and refreshed exterior styling, the updated Slavia aims to strengthen Skoda’s position in India’s mid-size sedan market.
