New Delhi: Tata Motors has launched the updated 2026 version of the Tata Tiago in India at a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom), introducing a refreshed design, updated cabin and several new technology and safety features for the popular hatchback.

The Tiago receives its second major facelift since its debut more than a decade ago and continues to compete in the entry-level hatchback segment against rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

With the latest update, Tata Motors aims to strengthen the Tiago’s position in the market by combining a more premium appearance with improved features while retaining its affordability and practicality.

Exterior gets sharper styling updates

The refreshed Tiago features noticeable cosmetic revisions at the front, giving the hatchback a more upright and contemporary appearance.

The updated model receives sleeker headlamps, a slimmer grille positioned higher on the fascia and a redesigned bumper with a larger central air intake for a sportier look.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, though Tata Motors has introduced newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels along with revised wheel-arch cladding to enhance the vehicle’s visual appeal.

At the rear, the hatchback now features connected tail-lamps, a cleaner bumper design and a subtler roof spoiler, giving the car a more modern appearance compared to the outgoing version.

Buyers can choose the new Tiago in six exterior colour options:

  • Daytona Grey
  • Pangong Pulse
  • Pristine White
  • Pure Grey
  • Sobo Surge
  • Varanasi Vibrance

Cabin receives major redesign

Inside the cabin, the 2026 Tiago gets a significantly revised dashboard layout featuring a flatter and more modern design theme.

Tata Motors has removed the conventional instrument binnacle and redesigned the centre console and steering wheel for a cleaner appearance. The hatchback now features a two-spoke steering wheel inspired by newer Tata models.

Automatic variants equipped with the AMT gearbox now come with a rotary gear selector instead of the traditional gear lever, further enhancing the cabin’s modern look.

The Tiago also receives a stronger equipment list with several new comfort and technology features.

Improved feature list

The updated Tiago now offers:

  • 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Fully digital driver’s display
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Dual wireless phone chargers
  • Rear AC vents
  • Connected car technology
  • Cruise control
  • Cooled glovebox
  • Four-speaker audio system

The additions are aimed at improving the overall in-cabin experience and making the hatchback more competitive against rivals in the segment.

Safety package strengthened

Tata Motors has also enhanced the safety package of the Tiago with several new features.

The hatchback now comes equipped with:

  • Six airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • 360-degree camera
  • Parking sensors
  • ABS with EBD
  • ISOFIX child-seat mounts

The company continues to focus on safety as a major selling point for its passenger vehicle range in India.

Petrol and CNG options continue

Mechanically, the updated Tiago continues with the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.

The petrol version produces 86hp, while the CNG variant develops 75.5hp.

Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

Tata Motors has also introduced paddle shifters on the Tiago CNG AMT, making it the first model in the segment to offer this feature in a CNG automatic hatchback.

Tata targets value-conscious buyers

The Tiago has remained one of Tata Motors’ important entry-level models due to its combination of affordability, safety and practicality.

With increasing competition in the hatchback segment, the latest facelift is expected to help the Tiago appeal to younger buyers seeking modern styling, connected technology and improved safety without significantly increasing ownership costs.

Industry observers believe the refreshed Tiago could strengthen Tata Motors’ presence in the compact hatchback category, particularly among first-time car buyers and urban commuters.
