Karnataka police have registered a case against 27 members of the Hindutva group Sri Rama Sene for organizing an unauthorized rifles training camp in Todalbagi village, Bagalkot district, between December 25 and 29. The event, held on private land without permission, prompted landowner Ningappa Shivappa Hugar to file a complaint citing trespass and public fear caused by the camp’s activities and social media posts.

The accused were charged under Section 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 for trespassing and Section 30 of the Arms Act, 1959, for violating arms license conditions. Bagalkot Superintendent of Police Y Amarnath Reddy confirmed an ongoing investigation to determine the type of firearms used.

The All India Lawyers’ Association for Justice (AILAJ) criticized initial police inaction and called for stringent measures, citing past incidents involving extremist groups and their role in disturbing communal harmony. They urged booking the organizers under multiple sections of the BNS and the Arms Act to prevent further risks to societal peace.
