BAGALKOT: A farmer suffered a tragic accident while bathing his ox in the backwaters of the Almatti dam, losing his right forearm to a crocodile attack. Dhariyappa Meti (32), who was preparing for Ayudha Puja in Honyal village, was holding the ox’s rope when the crocodile lunged at him. Fortunately, the ox sensed the danger and quickly moved away from the water, pulling Dhariyappa to safety, though he lost his forearm up to the elbow in the process.
Dhariyappa is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Bagalkot. Bilagi MLA J.T. Patil visited him in the hospital, expressing concern for his well-being and coordinating with Forest Department officials to ensure appropriate compensation for the incident.
