In a significant crackdown on gambling, Ballari district police arrested 810 individuals over three days, recovering Rs 16 lakh in cash. The arrests were made between October 30 and November 3 as part of an effort to curb illegal gambling activities during the festive season.

Superintendent of Police Shobha Rani VJ stated, “A total of 130 cases have been registered across the district, targeting those engaged in banned activities like card games.” Despite repeated awareness campaigns, many continue to flout the law, with some even renting out homes for gambling on an hourly basis. Police have issued warnings on social media and plan strict legal action against those involved.

Authorities hope the strict enforcement will deter further violations.
