A tragic incident unfolded in Ballari’s Glass Bazaar on Friday, where garment businessman Shankar Ram killed his wife, Shanti Devi, before taking his own life. The couple, originally from Rajasthan, had been living in Ballari for 15 years and leave behind three children.

Shankar Ram, who ran a jeans business with his brother, was reportedly in poor health for the past three months and often argued with his wife. On Friday, before their children returned from school, he fatally struck Shanti Devi with a flask and later hanged himself. The tragedy came to light when the children, expecting their mother to bring lunch to school, returned home and saw their father’s body through a window. Their uncle, alerted by their cries, forced entry and discovered the devastating scene.

Family members had previously tried to mediate the couple’s disputes, unaware of the potential for such an outcome. The Brucepet police have registered a case and are investigating further.
