Bengaluru: The state government has reassigned HR Shantharajanna from his role as engineer-member of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) after his four-year tenure. TD Nanjundappa, currently chief engineer of the Public Works Department, has been appointed as his successor.

Sources within the BDA revealed that Nanjundappa attempted to assume his new responsibilities on Tuesday and Wednesday, but encountered resistance from Shantharajanna, who reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the transfer.

Meanwhile, the BDA is reportedly considering the creation of a new position within its engineering division to accommodate both officials, each tasked with distinct responsibilities. However, this proposal does not align with provisions outlined in the BDA Act.

The BDA’s engineering wing oversees major projects in Bengaluru, including the development of Shivaram Karanth Layout, Hebbal loop construction, and the Peripheral Ring Road.
