The General Manager of the Southwest Railway Zone, Arvind Srivastav, conducted a significant meeting with officials in Hubballi, presided over by Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi, to address various railway-related issues in Belagavi district.

During the meeting, Kadadi emphasized the longstanding demand for extending the Vande Bharat Express to Belagavi, highlighting its importance for the residents. He expressed concerns over the slow progress of the new railway line construction from Dharwad via Kittur and urged officials to expedite the work. Kadadi also advocated for the resumption of passenger trains between Belagavi and Miraj, with stops at Khanapur, Ghataprabha, and Raibag stations, to facilitate travel to Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

Furthermore, Kadadi proposed the introduction of new train services connecting Belagavi with major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Tirupati, Mangaluru, Hyderabad, Bidar, and Solapur. This initiative aims to improve public convenience, considering the district’s proximity to Maharashtra and Goa.

The meeting also covered infrastructural developments, including the construction of foot overbridges, installation of escalators at platform number 4, and the initiation of another pitline at Desur, to enhance the overall railway infrastructure in the region.
