The murder case of Santosh Padmannavar, a prominent realtor and financier from Belagavi, is unfolding as a complex conspiracy. Following an FIR filed by Santosh’s daughter Sanjana against her mother for the murder, police have arrested Uma Santosh Padmannavar (41), along with two accomplices, Shobhit Gowda (31) and Pawan (35), in Bengaluru.
The investigation revealed that Uma allegedly contracted Shobhit and Pawan to kill her husband after confiding in Shobhit about her marital troubles over Telegram. During a recent visit to Belagavi, Uma concocted a plan to murder Santosh, whom she claimed had been abusive and unfaithful. On October 9, she reportedly fed him sleeping pills and, with the help of Shobhit and Pawan, suffocated him with a pillow.
Investigation Details
Evidence gathered during the investigation indicates that Santosh had installed approximately 17 CCTV cameras around his home in Mahantesh Nagar for security. The footage, which Uma attempted to delete, revealed questionable behavior by Santosh, including numerous extramarital affairs. Uma claimed that she endured years of harassment and sought to stage the murder as a cardiac arrest.
Following the confession, the arrested individuals have been placed in 14 days of judicial custody. Belagavi Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbnyang confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy.
