In a chilling turn of events, the murder of 45-year-old Shivanagowda Patil in Belagavi district, Karnataka, has led to the arrest of his wife and her lover, who allegedly conspired to kill him. Patil, a resident of Gadikoppa village in Khanapur, was found dead a day after dropping off his wife, Shaila Patil, at her parental home.

Police launched an investigation after discovering empty alcohol bottles at the murder site, indicating that Patil had been drinking with someone familiar. The postmortem confirmed he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of death.

The breakthrough came when Khanapur police examined Patil’s call records and traced his last phone call to Rudrappa Hosetti. Upon questioning, it was revealed that Hosetti and Shaila had been communicating frequently, including via WhatsApp video calls.

Further interrogation unveiled a disturbing plot: Shaila was in a romantic relationship with Hosetti, which her husband had recently discovered. After threatening her to end the affair, Shaila allegedly decided to have him killed. On the day of the crime, she informed Hosetti of Patil’s whereabouts. While drinking with Patil, Hosetti murdered him and then reportedly video-called Shaila to show her the aftermath.

Both accused have been taken into judicial custody as the case unfolds.
