In a devastating incident, four maternal deaths in Sindanur Taluk Hospital, Karnataka, were traced back to contaminated Lactated Ringer IV fluids supplied by Ballari District Hospital. Raichur District Health Department confirmed that these deaths occurred after childbirth. Following lab tests from Bengaluru and Hyderabad, it was revealed that two out of six fluid samples were harmful. Consequently, these fluids were discontinued. Meanwhile, Belagavi District saw 322 newborn deaths in 2024, with 172 reported at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences.
