In an emotional and unexpected act of compassion, a family from Karnataka chose mercy over vengeance—even after a tragic loss.

On May 31, 10-year-old Amit Gurulinga Sindhur was bitten by a snake while he was asleep at his residence in Kakamari village, located in Karnataka’s Belagavi district. Despite being rushed to a hospital for treatment, the young boy tragically passed away.

What made the situation even more startling was that the snake stayed hidden inside the house for three days following the incident, undisturbed.

Once the grieving family concluded the funeral rites for their son, they made a decision that surprised many in the village—they chose not to harm the snake.

Instead of taking revenge on the creature responsible for their heartbreak, they contacted a snake rescue expert. The conservationist carefully captured the reptile and secured it in a sack.

Soon after, the snake was set free in a wooded area near Telsang village, within the Athani taluk region.

This extraordinary gesture by the Sindhur family was acknowledged and deeply appreciated by locals. Village elder Duradundappa Kakamari and others lauded the family’s noble action, calling it a rare show of empathy even in pain.

The story has since touched many hearts, standing as a powerful example of humanity and respect for nature, even in the face of immense sorrow.
