The 14th edition of the Rotary Belagavi Marathon took place on February 16, 2025, drawing over 3,000 runners under the theme ‘Go Green’. Organized by the Rotary Club of Venugram Belgaum in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Venugram, the event showcased incredible energy and enthusiasm.
Brigadier Joydeep Mukherjee, Commandant of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, kicked off the Half Marathon, while Rotary Club President Vinay Balikai, along with event heads Mallikarjun Murgude, Kapil Kalbhairav, Umesh Ramgurwadi, and Mahesh Angolkar, flagged off the Full Marathon.
In the Men’s Open category, Pralhad Nayak from Elite Running Academy, Khanapur, secured the top spot, while Jasmitha Kodenkiri from Mangaluru emerged victorious in the Women’s division. Vinayak Jambotkar and Shyamala S triumphed in the veterans’ category. A major highlight was 92-year-old Bylahalli Raghunath Janardhan from Bengaluru, who successfully completed the 21 km run.
Leading sponsors included BPCL, Aditya Birla Hindalco, Canara Bank, Kings Ice Cream, MMA Matrix Gym, Sinchan, STIHL, and AEQUS. Vijaya PU College supported the 10 km run, with Dr. Ravi Patil officiating. The event saw the presence of Rotary District Governor Sharat Pai, Sivaramkrishnan (Canara Bank), Vijaykant Sidnal (Kings Ice Cream), Pradeep Tripathi (Hindalco), and others.
All participants received medals, t-shirts, e-certificates, refreshments, and medical aid, while 2,000 school children joined the 3 km Fun Run.
