Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has introduced a unique sensory room near the international lounge on Level 4 of Terminal 2, catering to neurodivergent passengers and those with sensory sensitivities. This groundbreaking initiative is designed to offer a tranquil and controlled environment for individuals with conditions like autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, and PTSD.

Backed by research in behavioral science and occupational therapy, the sensory room provides a safe space for travelers seeking relief from overstimulation. “We are dedicated to creating an inclusive, passenger-friendly airport by incorporating the latest innovations, from our sustainable Terminal 2 to the digital solutions enhancing operational efficiency,” said Hari Marar, MD and CEO of Bangalore International Airport Ltd. He emphasized that the sensory room is an integral part of the airport’s commitment to a seamless, stress-free experience for all passengers.

Located near the international lounge, the sensory room boasts a variety of features designed to engage and soothe. These include ambient lighting, an art mural, interactive elements, a crash pad, a weighted blanket, and therapy mats, all aimed at creating a peaceful escape from the bustling airport environment.

With this initiative, Bengaluru Airport continues to lead in inclusivity, ensuring that accessibility and comfort are at the heart of its services.
