BENGALURU – The city’s water supply is anticipated to be disrupted following damage from heavy rain and lightning to power transformers in the Harohalli and TK Halli areas. Ram Prasat Manohar, President of Bengaluru Jalmandal, confirmed that the water supply will remain affected until repairs to the damaged transformers are completed.

Last night’s severe thunderstorms resulted in damage to power supply lines linked to key pumping stations that deliver water to Bengaluru. Major pumping stations at TK Halli and Harohalli have been without electricity since around 11 p.m., significantly impacting the city’s water supply.

The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has begun repair work to restore power to the affected transformers. However, until full power restoration is achieved, the city will continue to experience disruptions in water supply. Manohar reassured the public that normal service would resume once KPTCL finishes the necessary repairs.

As of now, there is no specified timeline for when the repairs will be completed, leaving residents in uncertainty about the duration of the disruption. The water board has advised consumers to store water and use it wisely, as irregularities in supply are expected across areas serviced by the Cauvery water network. Residents are encouraged to conserve their current water reserves until the situation improves.
