The highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, releases today, December 5, 2024. However, fans in Bengaluru may have to wait a little longer due to the Bengaluru district collector’s sudden decision to cancel midnight screenings.

The move followed a petition from the Kannada Film Producers Association, which opposed breaking the region’s tradition of scheduling film releases no earlier than 6 am. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan confirmed this development via a tweet.

Speculation suggests that concerns over exorbitant ticket prices for midnight and premiere shows also influenced the decision. Meanwhile, fans in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can celebrate as additional screenings and a ticket price hike have been greenlit in these states.

Pushpa 2 continues the gripping story of Pushparaju, played by Allu Arjun, delving deeper into the world of red sandalwood smuggling. The first part ended on a thrilling cliffhanger, setting the stage for Pushpa’s face-off with his nemesis, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil).

Excitement surrounding the franchise has only grown, with the makers already confirming Pushpa 3: The Rampage. Promising to be “bigger and better,” the sequel aims to surpass the benchmarks set by its predecessors.

Despite the setback in Bengaluru, the craze for Pushpa 2 remains unmatched, with fans across regions eager to witness the next chapter of this cinematic saga.
