Bengaluru Man Arrested Again for Alleged Attack on Woman Near Sankey Lake
A man recently released on bail for stalking has been arrested once again for allegedly attacking another woman near Sankey Lake in Bengaluru. The suspect, Mallikarjun, reportedly struck the woman on the head as she was returning home to Sadashivanagar on the evening of January 28.
The 41-year-old woman, who was walking with a friend at the time, was attacked with a wooden log and suffered significant injuries. She was quickly rushed to M S Ramaiah Hospital for medical treatment. According to the police, her husband, Rajath Ramachandra, who typically accompanies her on evening walks, was at home that day. Upon hearing about the attack, he rushed to the scene and took her to the hospital.
Mallikarjun had been previously arrested in December after a 27-year-old woman accused him of following and harassing her during her walks near Sankey Lake. He was charged with stalking and outraging a woman’s modesty, but was granted bail as the charges did not require a lengthy imprisonment.
Investigators are now considering whether Mallikarjun may have underlying mental health issues, as suggested by his family. This time, he has been charged with attempted murder, and authorities are ensuring he remains in judicial custody.
