A massive road-cum-metro corridor, spanning 32.15 km from JP Nagar to Hebbal, has been proposed along Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR). Designed like the Ragigudda-Silk Board double-decker stretch, this will be the city’s longest elevated corridor. Additionally, an 8-km elevated road is planned on Magadi Road, with an estimated total cost of ₹9,800 crore.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar inspected key locations, stating that all future Metro projects will incorporate elevated roads to avoid costly land acquisitions. The feasibility study is nearly complete, though the redesign—integrating the flyover with Metro pillars—has delayed Phase III’s civil work tenders.

A significant design change affects the 32.15-km JP Nagar-Kempapura Metro line, which will now feature a new interchange station near Goraguntepalya instead of Peenya. Travelators will connect it to Peenya and Goraguntepalya stations, reducing Metro congestion while ensuring smoother road traffic.

The double-decker corridor will create a signal-free route at Goraguntepalya, eliminating detours by using land from the Defence Ministry and the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute. Officials believe this will be a “game-changer” for Bengaluru’s transport infrastructure.
