The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is launching an online platform for booking Cauvery water tankers by the end of March. This initiative aims to regulate supply, curb private tanker overcharging, and ensure residents in areas without piped water get fair access to water.

With water scarcity worsening, especially in eastern Bengaluru, many residents rely on private tankers, often facing exorbitant rates. To address this, BWSSB will operate a no-profit-no-loss model, offering water at regulated prices through 200 GPS-enabled tankers with capacities of 6,000 to 12,000 litres. These tankers will be trackable in real time, similar to ride-hailing services like Ola and Uber.

How to Book a BWSSB Tanker

  • Residents can book tankers via the BWSSB website or mobile app.
  • An OTP system ensures secure delivery.
  • RFID-based automatic metering guarantees accurate water supply.
  • Customers receive an automated bill and can make digital payments.
  • The service operates daily from 6 AM to 10 PM.
  • The water quality will meet Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification.

Officials say this system will provide much-needed transparency, affordability, and reliability, preventing water exploitation in tanker-dependent areas.
