Bengaluru: A tragic incident unfolded in Tavarekere, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where a 14-year-old girl lost her life following a brutal physical assault. A 25-year-old carpenter, identified as Yellappa, who was known to the victim’s family, was arrested on Wednesday night in connection with the case.
According to police, the girl was at home alone around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the incident occurred. Her parents and elder brother were at work, while her younger brother was at school. Authorities allege that the suspect entered the home during this time and attacked the girl, causing serious injuries.
Her elder brother, upon returning for lunch, found her in a critical condition and rushed her to the hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she passed away while receiving treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had reportedly taken a motorcycle without permission the previous evening and used it to travel to the girl’s residence. After the incident, he also allegedly took a gas cylinder from the house and sold it in a nearby village, according to police.
Ramanagara Superintendent of Police R. Srinivas Gowda stated that the man had been observing the family’s routines for several days. He was apprehended based on CCTV footage, and a case has been registered at Tavarekere police station.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials have assured appropriate legal action will follow.
