Bengaluru Police have clarified that a NEET-UG aspirant who missed the June 21 re-examination did not reach the examination centre late due to traffic congestion linked to a political rally.
According to the police, CCTV footage, route analysis and interactions with the student and parent indicated that the candidate left home shortly before the examination centre’s entry deadline and opted for a longer route despite a shorter alternative being available.
Findings offer clarity, not blame
Police said the student left home 33 minutes before the 1.30 pm cut-off time for entry into the examination centre. Based on the investigation, officials concluded that delayed departure played a significant role in the student missing the examination.
However, the incident has sparked wider discussions about the intense pressure faced by students appearing for high-stakes competitive examinations.
