Amitesh Kumar Sinha assumed charge as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Bengaluru Division, South Western Railway, on January 1. A 1996-batch officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), Sinha holds a BE in civil engineering from Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE), Nagpur.
Sinha brings extensive experience from roles across the railway division, zonal headquarters, construction offices, and central ministries. Prior to his appointment, he served as Executive Director (Finance) at the Railway Board, focusing on resource mobilisation and PPP projects.
His leadership extends beyond railways, as he previously served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and IT, driving policies for India’s electronics and semiconductor industries. Key initiatives under his guidance included production-linked incentive schemes for electronics manufacturing and the Semicon India Programme, aimed at establishing a robust semiconductor ecosystem. Additionally, Sinha held the role of CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission, spearheading advancements in chip design and manufacturing.
With his diverse background in infrastructure, finance, and technology policy, Sinha’s tenure is expected to significantly impact Bengaluru Division’s development.
