Bengaluru’s RR Nagar MLA, Munirathna, recently faced an attack involving eggs while attending an event in his constituency. This incident occurred shortly after the MLA was released on bail in a rape case. As Munirathna made his way toward his car, surrounded by police officers and security personnel, a group of miscreants hurled eggs at him before fleeing the scene.
A viral video of the incident captured the tense moment, showing the MLA being escorted to safety by his security team. The attackers quickly disappeared, but law enforcement was swift to respond and ensured his protection.
Following the incident, Munirathna was swiftly transported to a hospital. Addressing the media, he accused the Congress party of orchestrating the attack, suggesting that it was part of a larger plot against him. He specifically pointed to Congress leader DK Shivakumar, claiming that the attack was linked to his brother DK Suresh’s loss in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Munirathna further implicated Kusuma, the wife of the late IAS officer DK Ravi, blaming her for instigating hostility against him after her defeat in the assembly elections.
The incident has sparked significant political debate, with Munirathna alleging a conspiracy aimed at ending his life.
